Heritage Stays

Hindmarsh holds many unique and significant heritage sites, offering visitors an insight into the pioneering early years of Australian agriculture and life in remote rural areas of Victoria.

Even if just passing through the area, some short side-trips off the Western Highway can give you a taste of our heritage and provide a welcomed break from your journey. Ideally, plan to stay at least a night or two to allow plenty of time to immerse yourself in our heritage without rushing.

Here are some suggestions to explore our heritage secrets:

Built in 1891, the Jeparit road bridge is one of Victoria's oldest surviving timber road bridges, and one of only two surviving examples of this type of design and construction. It played an important role in the development of agriculture in North West Victoria and the Jeparit township.
